Pull Up a Chair with Mayor Curt Leng

Dear Editor,

We all want a local government that we can engage with, and a little transparency and recognition of our concerns and issues as residents goes a long way. In our technology driven world, Mayor Leng has shown he is always available for a call, text, or an email with Hamden residents. Perhaps most importantly, though, is that Mayor Leng makes himself available in person - with face-to-face sit-downs at his newly created “Mayor’s Night Out” events.

For those of you who don’t know, “Mayor’s Night Out” is a casual forum that gives residents the opportunity to sit down with Mayor Leng, in a group or as an individual, and voice their concerns, gather information, and offer their opinions. There’s no one specified location for “Mayor’s Night Out” either. It could be happening anywhere around Town, from the Thornton Wilder Auditorium to a local diner or community center right near you. .

The next “Mayor’s Night Out” will be held on August 30th at the Mishkan Israel Temple Community Room from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. If you have questions or concerns, please mark the date on your calendar and plan to attend!

Personally, this is one of my favorite new programs that Leng has started since becoming Mayor. He really listens to the concerns of each and every attendee, and sincerely tries to follow up on each concern and reach a positive resolution for all parties (and for the most part, he does). By going to these different places across town, Mayor Leng is making himself truly accessible to the citizens of Hamden -- something we rarely see from our elected officials these days.

Mayor Leng wants to be out in our communities working for you. He truly cares about Hamden -- and everyone who resides in it. He wants to make our town better, and the creation of “Mayor’s Night Out” and his always-on-the-clock attitude are just some of the ways that he does this. In fact, I am a volunteer in town and Mayor Leng always stops by to thank me. I have always appreciated the time he takes out of his busy schedule to do so.

Thank you, Mayor Leng for real efforts to keep Hamden moving in the right direction.
